Director of Engineering, DNK

Drove the company-wide shift toward an AI-first product and engineering strategy. Restructured teams, delivery processes, and the platform itself to design and ship AI-native products into Korea, Japan, and Singapore.

1. Agentic AI platform architecture

   Architected the Sentient Development Platform — a multi-agent system on AWS where autonomous AI agents govern research, development, infrastructure, build/deploy orchestration, and operational intelligence. Defined the integration pattern for intent classification, structured tool use, and context-aware decision routing, with minimal human-in-the-loop approval for sensitive change.

2. Cloud and security transformation

   Migrated a legacy single-account AWS topology to a multi-account architecture using AWS Organizations and Control Tower. Authored the SCPs enforcing account isolation and audit-trail integrity, and federated Google Workspace SAML through IAM Identity Center — extending the same pattern to enterprise customers' IdPs.

3. Enterprise revenue and ISO 27001

   Owned RFI/RFP/RFQ end-to-end with multinational customers. Closed three Fortune 100 contracts that shifted DNK's revenue model from small engagements to sustainable enterprise revenue. Established ISO 27001 certification in under four months — ISMS scope, Statement of Applicability against Annex A, and embedded governance across departments.

4. Data architecture and OpEx

   Defined the target-state data platform — moving large historical datasets from MongoDB and SQL into S3 Glacier-tiered storage, keeping only operationally relevant data hot. Cut OpEx by 85% and accelerated the path to profitability.

   Platform engineering across Apartments.com, Homes.com, and LoopNet through growth from ~$300M to $1B+ ARR. Multi-region, 99.999% availability — held through AWS regional outages, Rent Week 5× surges, and Super Bowl placements. ~5TB ingested daily, 115M+ listing events per month across 65M listings.

   CalAmp — Senior DevOps Engineer · Irvine

   Multi-tenant, carrier-agnostic IoT data platform on AWS. Normalized telemetry from AT&T, Verizon, and T-Mobile across 10M+ devices into ML-ready datasets for FedEx and UPS — route optimization and predictive analytics.

4. 2014 — 2016

   Pacific Life — Senior DevOps Engineer · Newport Beach

   Cloud architecture for the annuities platform during initial AWS + Azure migration. Established cloud governance aligned to insurance regulation, audit, and GLBA — preserving auditability and segregation of duties.

5. 2012 — 2013

   KBB & Autotrader.com — Senior DevOps Engineer · Irvine

   Data platform integration through the KBB / Autotrader merger. Consolidated automotive datasets into monetizable products for consumer, advertising, and industry markets.

6. 2007 — 2012

   Experian · Capital Group — Engineer / Manager / Consultant

   Built Experian's first direct-to-consumer credit reporting platform. Established SAS 70 / SOC 1 compliance at Capital Group post-financial-crisis — gated change management and SoD controls in ClearCase / ClearQuest. Led the American Funds datacenter relocation: 500+ systems, zero impact, six months.

7. 2005 — 2007

   First American — Engineer · Santa Ana

   Web Services Platform team. Mortgage, Title, and Settlement services for Wells Fargo and JP Morgan, working with offshore teams in India.

I take on a small number of consulting engagements when the problem is interesting and the team is good. Mostly senior advisory — architecture reviews, due diligence, helping leaders avoid expensive mistakes early.
